Thinking Aloud

I love going to Las Vegas. I am a gambler at heart but I am not the only one. My mom and my sister are even bigger addicts than I am. But, they are also better able to afford it.

I tease my mom sometimes that when she gets too old to go to the casinos on her own, she would still persevere like all those senior citizens that we see all over Las Vegas, pushing their walkers and pulling their portable oxygen concentrator behind. lol!

I love Surprises

Food BuzzAs much as email and gift cards allow convenience, there is still nothing that beats the feeling you get when you receive a letter or a package in the mail. Lately, I’m surprised how much packages I’ve received in the mail. I’ve had to ask my husband for his box cutter so often that he just went ahead and gave me one to keep in my tool drawer. LOL!

Anyway, some of the goodies I’ve received has been from blogging, believe it or not. Like the canvas bag from Food Buzz, for instance. In addition to that, I also received a t-shirt from PayU2Blog and just the other day I received a box from Izea and it had a cuddler in it! Oh, and let’s not forget my latest FoodBuzz goodie, I received a brand new apron and a cool green spatula with Food Buzz written on the handle. I am so excited!

XFlowsion Workout

I’m not an athletic person, I’m not the type to go to a gym. But, since I have started doing yoga at work (see prior post), I have really noticed a change in how I feel. I’ve always had a low energy level, easily tired, so I never really worked out. Little did I know what a vicious cycle that was! Since I started doing yoga and stretching my muscles, it seems like now they want to do more. I have more energy and my overall disposition, to the delight of my family, has even improved. So I’m thinking of adding more physical activity to my yoga. The girls and I have vowed to increase our hiking activity on the weekends.

Another way of exercising at home is via XFLOWSION. XFLOWSION™ is an exercise program that combines moves from martial arts, power yoga and dance in one workout. The program claims to “sweat, sculpt and stretch your body to total transformation, from head to toe, inside and out” in one third of the time it would normally take using other methods.

For three payments of $19.95 each plus shipping and handling, you get 4 workouts on DVD designed to get you moving to the rocking rhythm from a diverse playlist original to this workout set. The film is professionally processed in high definition with surround sound to increase your workout enjoyment. Eric Paskel, celebrity trainer, is your guide and motivator to get your body moving and improving. In addition to the workout DVD’s you will also get two guidebooks and 2 audio CDs. That’s for the price of a month’s gym membership! These workout DVDs will definitely last you longer than a month and you will probably have more fun following them at home without having to get in your car to drive elsewhere.

Simple Yoga for Stress

Posted By: JMom  //  Category: Uncategorized

I have been participating in a weekly yoga session at work as part of the living healthy and destressing movement implemented this year. I love this company… we have a book club, a walking club, living healthy groups, and now yoga. All for free, all provided by the company.

I have never done yoga before and I must say, after four lessons, I think I am getting hooked. I really am feeling a lot better. I also noticed that my back hasn’t been as stiff from sitting at my desk all day. I love it that some of the positions that are just killing me a mere couple of weeks ago are now doable! I’ve also tested some of the breathing and relaxation techniques we learned and I think it really helps. Something as simple as pushing away from your computer, closing your eyes, concentrating on your breathing and stretching your neck muscles can really relieve the tension and stress that centers around your eyes and neck.

If you’d like to get started, the best way, I think is to find a yoga instructor that can help you with the poses and even explain the benefits of each. But if you can’t find one in your area or just don’t have the time, check out Yoga Today for a daily exercise. There are also plenty of other sites online that you can use to familiarize yourself. I’ve heard of people who just learned on their own and are getting full benefit from the exercises.

Heroes Return Tonight

Posted By: JMom  //  Category: Uncategorized

Heroes fans are all going to be at home tonight, waiting for the return of the NBC television series. Are you a heroes fan? Have you been holding your breath since the last episode? Well tonight is the night you’ve been waiting for. They are back!

My husband and daughters are as crazy about this show as I am. Especially my eldest daughter who is also a fanatic about graphic novels.  I can’t believe it’s been nine months since their last episode.

Until tonight, here’s a preview to whet your appetite…

Hotel Fox - Copenhagen, DK

Posted By: JMom  //  Category: Uncategorized

My daughter forwarded me this cool hotel room in Copehagen called Hotel Fox. According to their website, the newly launched hotel commissioned 21 international artists in the fields of graphic design, urban art and illustration to transform their hotel into an exciting and creative lifestyle hotel.

Each of the 61 rooms in the hotel is an individual piece of art. “From wacky comical styles to strict graphic design. From fantastic street art and Japanese Manga to simply spaced out fantasies. You will find flowers, fairytales, friendly monsters, dreaming creatures, secrets vaults and…” lots more.

They promise you’ve never seen anything like it. My daughter is surely excited, she would love to stay at this hotel for vacation! And when she checked it out, the prices to stay there are quite reasonable.
