I just saw the cutest little handmade dolls today at Etsy. They are made from cloth and felt applique by art teacher, Kellie Diguangco and are called Rice Babies. Since my girls love arts and crafts and have been making their own dolls since they were old enough to handle a needle, I knew they would love these dolls. The did!
They said the applique technique blended with embroidery and colorful fabrics reminded them of digital scrap booking which is their present laptop memory and time absorbing hobby. Anyway, back to the babies, we spent a long time looking at the whole inventory and checking out the different types of dolls available. It isn’t often that we see Asian dolls for kids much less a Filipino one or even rarer, a Filipino and Dutch mixed doll! They also loved the Where the Wild Things Are crown. Where the Wild Things Are is one of our favorite books and they even visited the Where the Wild Things Are playground in San Francisco.
Luckily, the Asian Mommy is giving away one of these beautiful dolls at her blog. If you would like a chance to win one of these beautiful dolls, go on over there and enter. However, if you’d like to simply buy one, make sure you visit the Rice Babies on Etsy. The artist can also custom make one for you to look like your child or whomever you choose.

I got these lovable Plaja pets for my girls and they just adore them. No matter how high tech toys have become, there is always a special place for something soft and cuddly in the hearts of kids and the young at heart. It was certainly true when these cuties were pulled out of the box and the squeals and oohs properly ensued. It wasn’t until a few minutes later that we discovered that you can mix them up to create a totally new set of even more squeal worthy creatures. If teenagers can have so much fun the little ones they are destined for will react!
These Plaja pets are available in two sizes, 4″ and 8″, from Small World Toys whose aim is to deliver creative and thought provoking toys to all children at affordable prices. The old kids on your list will still probably want something high tech like a used cisco server or router, but how boring is that! Something plushy and huggable is so much more fun.

Even with the fancy, high tech games now available, the allure of playing with dolls and dollhouses hasn’t been completely lost among little girls. My doll house was my favorite toy when I was a little girl and when my girls came along, they couldn’t tire of playing with their Barbies and Barbie’s mansion either. I can’t imagine any little girls even in this day and age who wouldn’t enjoy getting their very own doll house for Christmas.
Unique dollhouses and furniture can be found at Ryan’s Room at Small World Toys. If you have little kids on your shopping list and would like to get them one of a kind toys that make them think and use their imagination, then make sure you browse through Small World Toys.
Use coupon code: SALE142 and get $20 off your order. If you spend more than $100, shipping is free.

It amazes me how many kids today can’t tell time using an analog clock. All they know to tell time with is via digital clocks. This Teach Me Time Clock will get children learning how to tell time earlier so hopefully by the time they go to school they will not only have a routine, they will know how to track that routine.
This alarm clock will grow with your child as they learn how to read time. To start, the clock can ’speak’ the time to your child until they learn to associate the placement of the hour and minute hand on the clock with the time spoken out. As they grow older and the ’speaking’ time is no longer needed, this very cool looking clock functions much like a regular alarm clock with snooze features and night lighting.

Elizabeth at Table4Five is having a Tamagotchi giveaway for Christmas! All you have to do is leave a comment to gain one entry to the raffle. Leave her a link of something Christmassy on your blog and gain another entry, and if you blog about it like I’m doing now, you gain a third!
Easy enough, right? And just about now, you are probably thinking this woman wants these Tamagotchis real bad. Well, you’re right. Not for me, but for Asi who for some reason likes to take care of inanimate pets. Because, as she says, “they don’t bite!” and she doesn’t have to clean up after them.
Buy your own Tomagotchi
at Amazon.
Or give an Amazon Gift Card
and let your special someone can buy it for themselves!
