The $833,654 Candy Bar

Persistence and a candy bar earns a Canadian woman almost a million dollars. In this case, being a fanatic fan with a sweet tooth can pay off.

I’m sure by now everyone has heard about John Lennon’s lyrics to Give Peace a Chance, which was personally handwritten on a plain piece of paper, that was recently auctioned at the famed Christies for a whopping $833,654!

As a daring sixteen year old, Gail Renard sneaked into the Montreal Hotel in 1969 during John and Yoko Ono’s week long bed-in for peace to get an interview for her school’s papers. After sneaking past the security guard, they simply knocked on the hotel suite and were invited in by Yoko herself. While talking to Yoko and John, he mentioned that he was hungry and the room service haven’t yet brought their food. The resourceful sixteen year old took out a candy bar from her purse and handed it to John and that started the rapport between them that lead to him inviting her to stay the rest of the week resulting in him giving her the hand written lyrics to Give Peace a Chance, which has then become the anthem for world peace.

Meizu Review

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

My daughter bought the Meizu MP3 player with her birthday money this year. At first she was looking at an MP3 player that also had a digital camera but her aunt convinced her that perhaps it is not such a good idea to combine functions because then you end up dilluting the capability of each function. My daughter was still set on having all the features in one unit though, until she realized that the player/cam she was considering is an obscure brand without any warranties. So, she started her search anew and came up with this. Here’s her review:

Black Eyed Peas

Okay, everyone knows that I love the Black eyed Peas(not the real kind that you eat), but know I give them madd props. And I thank them for giving the world these awesome messages, that I hope that everyone can begin to understand better. Just now I showed my mom this new video featured on Launch, that’s called “The APL song”. It’s my new favorite next to “Where is the Love” it’s about a Filipino Veteran. He’s rapping in Tagalog and English. It’s awesome, I’m going to start spreading the word, and them I’m gonna go buy the CD. I encourage all of you to at least look at the video, and support them. I know that there are some black eyed peas that are filipino.

Some other new videos to watch and listen to:

Vanessa Carlton- White Houses(I’m listening to it now)

Joss Stone- Super Duper love

You Had me

Fell in love with a boy

Ashlee Simpson- Autobiography

Shadow

and others

Brandy- What about our love

Hilary Duff- Our lips are Sealed

Twelve Girls Band- Clocks and others

Okay, I know some of you are surprised with Ashlee Simpson and Hilary Duff. I know I am. Especially Hilary, I don’t like her but this songs okay, the remake of the song made by the Gogo’s. I’ll tell you more about her on a different post. I didn’t want to like Ashlee Simpson, she is quite spoiled, but her music is way better than I expected. She definitely deserves “Most likely to succeed Little sister”. But that’s about it.

You can also witness ‘Cameosis’ in action. The Filipino star, Dante Basco(I love him, although I will probably out grow him in one or two years. He’s only about 5′3” and I’m already 5′2”!!), as he plays the younger version of the Pilipino Vet. BEP is amazing, so I hope you will support them.

The Basco bros are awesome!! Another bro is from the show: “City Guys” the NBC hit. Dante and his brothers are featured in the Filipino film: The Debut
