Some people are born with an innate sense of style and some people are born with none. The rest of us have to learn our style and we do it mostly by imitating others, whose sense of style we admire.

I’ve always admired women who leaned more towards the classic styles rather than the trendy. Rather than the Madonna or Sex in the City types, I leaned more towards Murphy Brown/Candice Bergen and Jaclyn Smith types (Yeah, I know I’m dating myself here). But even if I wasn’t influenced by the media and celebrities, I think I would still lean toward the classic, more conventional rather than urban and trendy. I have no underlying desire to set trends or invent anything new in fashion. I just want to be comfortable in what I’m wearing while not looking ridiculous at the same time.

“Sittin’ on the dock of the bay…” oh yeah! Well that’s why I can’t possibly qualify for the the Dockers contest going on, I can’t be original enough!

Oh well, I can still wear my favorite Dockers pants though. I wouldn’t lie and say that everything in my closet is Dockers, but I can tell you that my some of my favorite pieces and most worn pieces are Dockers. They are also some of the oldest pieces of clothing I have since they are so durable and can endure a lot of wear. I work in an office whose dress code is ‘office casual’. That means we don’t have to wear suits everyday, but we can’t wear jeans and t-shirt either. For me that means slacks and a professional shirt. My favorite slacks to wear, and I have at least three pairs of them, are Dockers metro pants. The style is classic and very flattering even for a 40 something year old figure like mine.

By having pants that are slightly below the waistline, it actually makes your torso look longer and your waistline smaller. Now you see why I love them?
