There’s a question that troubles many believers: “Why am I not experiencing more joy, more hope, more satisfaction, more intimacy, more power, more everything in my Christian life–didn’t Jesus promise that?”

He did promise an abundant life, but too many people are trapped by the curse of “the ordinary.” They have accepted the wrong idea that following God means losing individuality, creativity, and a passion for achieving lofty goals.

Nothing could be further from the truth!  John Bevere builds a convincing case, straight from Scripture, for a way of living marked by extraordinary experiences and accomplishments—the life God always intended for his children.

Here is a guide to understanding God’s incredible plans, and how to enjoy a life where he adds the “extra” to “ordinary.”

Author Bio:
John Bevere is an internationally popular conference speaker, teacher, and author of bestsellers, including The Bait of Satan, Drawing Near, and Driven by Eternity. His award-winning curriculum and books have been translated in over sixty languages and his weekly television program, The Messenger, is broadcast around the world. John and his wife, Lisa—also a bestselling author and speaker—reside with their family in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Visit his ministry website at www.messengerinternational.org.

My Thoughts:
First off, I’d like to say that I am not one who can quote from the bible or get into intelligent discussions about religion. I don’t go to church and I have never read the bible all the way through. I wouldn’t label myself agnostic or atheist, but I’m not devout either. I do believe in doing the right things and I do like reading or hearing about inspirational stories. I like reading about stories of faith and I do believe in God. I take inspiration from people whose faith carries them through adversity and triumph.

Reading through this book, I liked the intrinsic message that an extraordinary life is righ here for the taking. However, I really couldn’t get into all the scriptures. It’s just my ignorance, most likely. But it made it harder for me to get into the basic message having to sift through all the references. Perhaps someone who is more familiar with the bible will get it better than I did. If you’re ready to be convinced, this book will certainly do that, backed by numerous refences from the bible. It was a little hard for me to wade through, but that’s just me.

Thanks to WaterBrook Press, a division of Random House who provided a copy of the book for me to review, they also provided an extra copy for me to giveaway.

  1. I would try to get out of my comfort zone and be less selfish. it’s actually so hard when I think about it but it’s the only way for me!

  2. I would step out in spite of my fear and do the things I’ve always dreamed of doing. I would really take the urban youth girls ministry I’m a part of and push it to the next level.

  3. First of all, I would love, love, love to win this book!

I would like to do make my life extraordinary by going to hospitals and visiting patients, especially children, with a therapy dog. Seeing their faces light up would be amazing, and hopefully move them towards recovery more quickly.
