Living in SF

My dad used to live in San Francisco but after he retired and went on a fixed income, he couldn’t afford to live there anymore. So he decided to sell his condo and move to Los Angeles to be closer to my sisters.

My sister found a great san francisco realtor to handle the sale and the property closed in no time. Finding the right agent when buying or selling property in San Francisco or anywhere in the country is vital if you want to get your money’s worth. Tomorrow’s Classics

Her hair glistened in the rain like a nose hair after a sneeze.

He fell for her like his heart was a mob informant, and she was the East River.

The plan was simple, like my brother-in-law Phil. But unlike Phil, this plan just might work.

I wrote earlier about pick up lines but these are much more literary than that. These are the words of tomorrow’s writers. Submitted by teachers, these are some metaphors that they come across from their students. I’m sure the smiles or cringes these elicited made most teachers long for summer sabbaticals. LOL!

If you’ think these are funny, read more of these funny metaphors from high school students.

Car Reviews

You know how on Amazon if you buy a product or a book, buyers can post a review of the product? Well now you can do the same for cars. Whether you’re looking to buy a new car or to sell a used car, Auto123.com is a good place to start. For instance, one of the reason I like reading product reviews on Amazon is because they are written by real people like me. People who may not know all the specifics of a product but they know what works for them and what doesn’t. Well it’s the same at auto123.

I’m wishing for a new van to replace my six year old one. Everyone says go Toyota or Honda, but I’ve kind of gotten fond of my ol’ Chrysler minivan and was thinking of staying with the same make. However, after reading up on some of the reviews on the site, I’m starting to think otherwise. I’ll have to do more research, but I really like what I’ve read on the site so far.

Offer up your review of any car and you may even win a vacation! Enter the Drive, Rate and Fly contest by reviewing a car and you could win a car racing vacation or a vacation down south. Check out both the professional and consumer reviews to help you decide on your next car.

Unabridged Books Online

booksWhenever I find a site offering free books, I have been posting about it here in order to bookmark it for my future reference and hopefully to help someone else too who may be interested in the same thing.

So here is another source for free books, 40 Places for College Students to Find Free Unabridged Books Online. Some of the sites listed I have already mentioned before, but there are also a number of new sites on the list that I hadn’t heard of before. This list is geared for college students so quite a few of the sites are for text books. I’m bookmarking this site because I have two daughters who are almost in college and may be able to use this information. For many college students the cost of text books is almost equal to what they pay for tuition. It can get pretty costly.

Golf Software

I don’t know too much about golf but my husband loves it. He loved playing it and he still watches it on TV regularly especially if Tiger is playing. The thing I do know about golfers is that they are preoccupied, or dare I say obsessed?, with their stats much like baseball enthusiasts.

NetHandicap Online has developed a golf tournament software that will calculate a player’s handicap and store it online. This is a web based application so there is no software to download and can be accessed anywhere there is internet access. The Golf Tournament Software is suitable for individuals or groups so if you have a club and would like to track and analyze your statistics, this could be the perfect software for you. NetHandicap can be your ‘club house’ online. You can organize tee times with other people, discuss anything related to golf on the forums or send private messages to your friends or members.

If you’re a golfer, make sure you check out NetHandicap Online.

Spanish Basketball Team Snafu

Spain Basketball TeamI’m sure it wasn’t intentional, but given the atmosphere of political correctness and racial issues, you’d think the PR people for the Spain’s Basketball team would have known better. The photo above where the team posed slanting their eyes with their hands has received a lot of flack as it should.

On the surface, it’s just plain rude to make fun of your host before you go to visit. On a deeper level, this way of thinking just perpetuates the stereotypes that continue to divide us. You would think that with the shrinking world we live in, we become more aware and more sensitive to the different cultures that we share this planet with. It’s just ignorant. And as this article (Spain’s ‘Slant-Eye’ Team Photo Stirs Ire) points out, if the Spanish Basketball Federation just admitted the mistake and apologized early on, a lot of the controversy regarding the issue would have been avoided. I don’t think it helped them at all to continue insisting that it was in harmless jest that the photo was taken. They just don’t see it and that is what makes it so abhorrent.
