Planning for the Inconceivable

I am switching insurance plans at work and there are numerous paperwork to fill out and decisions to make, one of which is life insurance for kids. My husband and I have life insurance, but do the kids really need them? My mother always used to say that she had these ‘penny insurance plans’ (that’s what they were called then) for us when we were younger. They didn’t cost much, just a few pennies a day, and the value is just enough to bury you if anything should happen. That always seemed like a morbid thought to me. For adults, they value your insurance against the cost it would take to replace your earning potential to your family should anything happen to you right now. For kids, it’s so your parents won’t have to dig into their retirement fund in order to bury you? Really morbid…

But then, I have been having such weird and random thoughts all day.

Either Or Neither Nor

Confusing Words, if you’ve ever wondered when to use either or neither or effect or affect, will get them untwisted for you. Here are some words that may have been confounding you too:

    affect and effect
    there, their, and they’re
    capital and capitol
    affluent and effluent
    atheist and agnostic

According to the website, the most popular confusing words are:
1. lay
2. lay
3. affect
4. effect
5. canyon
6. arroyo

I was actually looking into the difference, if any, between ‘in spite’ and ‘despite’. You’d think those words would have been on the list of confusing words, but they were not. You’d be glad to know though, that it doesn’t matter which one you use, they mean or infer the same meaning, it is just the manner in which they are used that is different. The first should be used as ‘in spite of‘, a proposition and ‘despite’ can be used interchangeably with ‘in spite of’ (which should be 3 words, by the way, not two as in ‘inspite of’).

My Bug Will Race Ya

My girls and I love the Volkswagen Beetle, especially the convertible ones, but we never looked at them as the kind of cars that can go really fast. They are more ‘for looks’ only cars. But, I’m sure any car aficionado will tell us that it can go really fast if you want it to.

A Volkswagen turbo is within your fingertips by simply visiting a site like Turbochargerpros.com. They have all the parts necessary to upgrade your car and all parts in their inventory are have a full warranty. If you’re unsure, they have a learning center where you can learn about superchargers and turbochargers. Sounds fast already, doesn’t it?
