A Blogger’s Firestorm

FirestormLast night, while stumbling, I came across a Firestorm. This is a new forum to help bloggers promote their blogs by helping others promote theirs through various social networks like Digg, Technorati, StumbleUpon, etc.

I signed up for it and already, I see some familiar faces (or user names) from other forums. Everyone is pretty supportive and are willing to help you increase readership in your blogs. As soon as I get back to the swing of blogging, since I have been off my schedule for a while now, I will take full advantage of the firestorm forum. Check them out.

Zenni Optical on Fox News

I just love it how now I see things on the internet first and then all of a sudden you see it on TV. It used to be the other way around. I had written about ZenniOptical.com not too long ago and how they are a great place for prescription glasses at bargain prices.

The website was recently featured on Fox News’ Deal or Dud segment. The verdict….

Watch Zenni on Fox by clicking on the link. If the page doesn’t show up for you, simply put zenni optical on the search window and you will be taken to the Deal or Dud section.

I have to say that I was very pleased to watch that segment and made me feel more secure about ordering my daughter’s glasses from Zenni Optical in the future.

Coupons, Coupons!

Coupons.com

I have to admit, I haven’t been organized enough to take advantage of coupons. However, the few times that I have used coupons I was always pleased with the amount of savings it gave me. Yesterday on the Today Show, they had the CEO of Coupons.com on the show. They also featured a lady who uses coupons and it just so happens that she belongs to the Cooking Light forum.

I am feeling inspired now to start using coupons again. Especially since I saw on the coupons.com website that the savings can be quite significant especially if you shop at stores that double or triple manufacturer’s coupons. While browsing their website, I also noticed that they have an affiliate program so I signed up for that to see what it’s all about. I’ll give updates here after I’ve found out more about it.

With the rising cost of everything, every little bit helps.

Beware of Transfer Fees

Sometime ago, I thought I was being smart and decided to consolidate my credit card balances by transferring the higher interest ones to the credit card that had the lowest interest. It wasn’t after I had made all the changes that I realized (since I don’t often read the fine print) that each transfer I made was charged a 3% fee! I was shocked that they would charge a fee for taking on your other loans. You would think that the interest fee they would earn would be enough to cover the cost of the transfer. But, that’s from my point of view as the consumer. I’m sure if I was trying to make a huge profit I would do the same too.

Of course, after the fact, now I find out that there are credit cards with a no balance transfer fee policy. Now at least I know in case I get another smart idea.
