On June 12th we placed an order for an introductory package of E.L.F. cosmetics for $9.99; the price includes the products and shipping. Although we placed the order in early June, we did not recieve the package until July 3rd. The delayed shipping was somewhate inconvienient, but the company did send us two emails informing us of the late departure.
The package contains six separate items: (1)an eyeshadow brush, (2)a natural radiance blusher in “Glow,” (3)a regular/waterproff mascara duo in black, (4)a duo eye shadow cream in “Berry Mix,” (5)a lip gloss cell phone charm duo and (6)a hypershine gloss in “Gourmet Peach.”
I, personally, do not use much make up. However I do have a bit of an obsession with lip glosses and balms. The lip gloss cell phone charm duo comes with two glosses, and only one lanyard. The lanyard has a cap attached so you can switch the two glosses as you need to, this means with this pack you can only attach one gloss to your cell phone at a time. It works fine for me, I have enough things dangling off my cell phone as it is, but some might want a cap for each gloss. Although I like the idea, the gloss itself is not my favorite. The taste and smell of them is not ideal. It’s a little artificial and it doesn’t leave my lips with that natural feel I would have hoped for. I continue to get a taste of the gloss every now and then, even after I wipe it off, I don’t really like this because I don’t like drinking water with that unpleasant background taste. The consistency of the gloss isn’t great either, it felt a little bit oily instead of smooth, and it didn’t blend in with my lips. My advice would be to use it sparingly, dabbing a bit on the center of your lip and smoothing it out with your finger. You can check the job in the reflection of your cell phone screen!! Hehe.
The hypershine lip gloss, in Gourmet Peach was my favorite item. It comes in the form of a brush, and to make the gloss come out you have to twist the end a few times, a dot of gloss appears in the center of the bristles, then you can spead it on. The flavor I have is great, it smells yummy and you don’t get an icky aftertaste when you put it on. The consistency is the preferred smooth so it glides on perfectly, leaving my lips feeling hydrated with a glassy shine. The brush itself is nice because it’s soft and a nice length so it’s easy to handle, and feels nice on your lips as you use it. I liked it because I could easily apply it before I go out, and brush a little on throughout the day as a quick touch up worry-free.
The great thing about E.L.F. (which is an acronym for “Eyes Lips Face”) cosmetics is that every item is only $1. It’s great if you’re not especially picky when it comes to make-up, and it’s even better for teenagers like me if you just want a brand that is economical also of good quality. Their nail polish line has a nice variety of colors, focusing on the pinks and reds that girls like me love for day-to-day use. They also have mineral powders(a bit higher priced than their other products), which are very popular now, for a very smart price; you can purchase a starter kit for only $20, it includes a mineral foundation, concealer and blush, a total face brush, a blush brush and a canvas case. Their website has all their products listed and you can even order them online. I highly recommend them for quality, variety and economy.

I have heard of them before, but have never tried them. After reading this review though I think I may have to give them a try. My niece would love the cell phone lip gloss!
