Supercharge Me!

old carI have an old Pontiac Firebird that’s been sitting in the driveway for years and the only thing it’s been good for is to sit on. My husband has been saying he’s going to restore it but up until now he hadn’t gotten started.

So I’m sending him this link to Super Charger Pros to maybe get him psyched about getting my old car finally up and running again. For one, Super Charger Pros carry a pontiac supercharger that I know he would just go gaga about when he sees the great price. They provide a one year warranty for their parts and if you order a supercharger from the website, shipping is free! Pretty good deal, eh?

I would love to see my old car shiny and running again. Plus, our girls are getting close to driving age and we’ll be needing a car for them soon. I’d rather have them drive one of these old cars than these new cute cars that seem to be made of tin.

Now You Gotta Pay for your Luggage Too

planeI’ve mentioned before that the girls flew by themselves for the first time this summer. They’ve been flying to California almost every summer since they were toddlers so flying is really nothing new to them. When they have gone in the past, they usually bring with them all their favorite things to keep them busy during their month long, or more, stay with grandma. This time around, they had to pare down what they could bring because of new baggage restrictions. For one, they can now only bring one free checked in luggage, not weighing more than 50 pounds. They usually do some shopping while they’re there so I told them to leave room and weight allowance for what they will be bringing back with them. It’s a pain, gone are the days when you just cram everything you need for the summer regardless of weight.

This week, Delta announced that they are increasing baggage fees even more! Now if you want to check in a second bag, the fee is going up from $25 to $50. More if you are checking in stuff that need special handling like surfboards, golf clubs or ski equipment.

I haven’t checked yet, but I heard that some airlines are even charging fees for a checked bag. So I guess now if you’re going to fly, you have to wear what you plan on packing or pay the fees. There was a comedy skit on one of the late shows where they were testing how many pairs of underwear one can put on. Pretty soon, you’ll be seeing a lot of very bulky people getting on the planes. lol!

Summer Vacations

What kid doesn’t like summer vacations? Some of my fondest memories growing up were the vacations during the summer months. One memorable trip for instance was our first ever trip to Europe and my sister and I city hopped and museum hopped all over the place. Before we got to London, we had never even heard of Madame Tussauds Museum. An aunt, whom we were staying with, took us there and were we amazed! Now just about every major city has a Madame Tussaud exhibit.

Just last year, when we were looking for things to do in Las Vegas we found out there was one there! So you know we just had to take the girls over there, even the little ones. They had a blast! Of course, their favorites had to be the fairy tale characters. Go figure!

Wherever your planned destination is, don’t forget to do your research first before you get there. While there is something to be said about the wonders of the less traveled road, traveling with kids and ornery adults requires some planning ahead. For your next trip, make sure you include Trusted Tours and Attractions in your resource list. They have valuable online travel guides for almost every major city in the country which gives you a list of interesting places to see and things to do.

Literary Tattoos

Little Prince Harriet

If I were gutsy enough to get a tattoo, I would get one of these. There is a whole website dedicated to Literary Tattoos that features tattoos from books, poetry, music, and other sources. The two above are just examples of the many that are submitted to the site. It’s a very interesting concept, I think. If you’re going to write on yourself anyway, you might as well write something interesting or intelligent rather than just something grotesque. Some of the entries are quite profound. They make you think rather than just reacting to something pretty or gross. For instance the top post at the moment is called “Dot Dot Dot”. Under it,

ellipsis \i-?lip-s?s, e-\
n.
A mark or series of marks ( . . . or * * * , for example) used in writing or printing to indicate an omission, especially of letters or words.

What was this person trying to say with this tattoo? Are they someone who likes to leave some things unsaid, or someone who leaves you hanging? Or is it someone who maybe likes to ponder the things unsaid or someone who like to look into situations deeper than the eye can see? Who knows…

Postcards

Postcards. Don’t you just love receiving them in the mail? I do. I like buying them too but sometimes when it comes to sending them out, I just can’t bear to part with them because I like the images on them so much. I love the handmade and customized ones just because they are so personal. Postcards from family and friends with their photos printed on them are keepers. I just wouldn’t dare throw them out, karma and all that.

Vista Print specializes in giving you the best price for the best printing. They print just about any media material you need such as business cards, postcards, letterheads, invitations, announcements, signage and other marketing materials (brochures, folders, flyers). They stand by the quality of their products. If you are not sure and would like to see how they look and feel, try out their service by ordering free products. For instance, if you’d like to see how their postcards are, you can get 50 oversized postcards for free by using the coupon code: PC50.

Keep in mind, it’s not just paper printing they do, they also print novelty items such as lawn signs, decals, t-shirts and hats.  Check out their website, order their free products and decide if you want them to design your logo or print your business materials. You may even just want some personal postcards to send to relative and friends. It’s a nice quick way to stay in touch and keep them appraised.
