Quitting Habits

It’s easy to say, “it’s all in the mind”. Heck, I’ve said it before, believing that any bad habit or addiction can be overcome if we just put our minds to it. That is, before I started smoking. Then I also started gaining weight, so I smoked more thinking it would keep me from eating. People (well maybe not just any people, mostly my family and friends) would come up to me and tell me I’m on a losing cycle. That I need to just quit my nasty habits. My ready reply has always been, sure, I can quit anytime I want. I just don’t want to yet.

Then the time came when I finally said, I really gotta quit. Great, ya? Well, this is also the time I realized that it isn’t always so simple as just “putting your mind to it”. Any kind of habit or addiction is hard to kick. It has physical effects that you need to deal with, not just the mental effect. It takes a lot of will power to combat, and some people need extra ammunition to help them out. One of those ammunitions is drugs, yeah, it seems like a conflicting suggestion, but some drugs like Generic Acomplia release chemicals that signal your brain it is no longer hungry or that it doesn’t want nicotine anymore. I haven’t gone the way of using drugs yet, but at least I know the option is there if and when I need it.

Free Rice

Free Rice I ran across this Vocabulary Game that is not only fun if you’re into words, every work you define correctly donates 10 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program. Hopefully you know enough words to keep someone from going hungry. Cause that would just be too sad if you couldn’t keep someone fed with your vocabulary.

So, go enjoy yourself, increase your vocabulary, and know that you’ve just helped feed the hungry.

Just stupid

I can’t get the image of that guy screaming “leave bitney alone!!!” out of my head every time I thin of Britney Spears now. Thank goodness I don’t think about her that much. lol! But, with her recent traffic mishap putting her back in the spotlight, one can’t help but hear about her.

The media paparazzi have a field day everytime one of these starlets get into trouble. The sad thing is, they are prime fodder for gossip material with all the antics they get into and the addiction treatment they seem to be constantly getting in and out of. Some of it is probably just a publicity gimmick, but I think that some of these celebrities just have had their brains fried and are just plain stupid.

IWC Watches

nullThis is an IWC watch. IWC is a Swiss manufacturer of watches that is know for Pilot’s watches. What is little known is that it was an American company that produced Swiss watches for the U.S. market. Isn’t that interesting trivia? They have since been purchased by Richemont, owners of brands such as Cartier, Baume & Mercier, Piaget, and other luxury jewelers.

They continue to produce spectacularly intricate pieces that are both functional and elegant as you can see with their new line of products.

Am I Wrong?

You know spring and summer are just around the corner when everyone starts talking about vacations. My girls have two more months of school and already they are talking about what they would like to do for the summer and where they would like to go. But isn’t it bad enough that husbands run off to play golf on weekends without including golf in vacation plans too? Or am I wrong to think that?

Most golfers would say I’m out of my mind. After all, who can resist vacations such as those that can be had at Branson resorts and others like it? Why one would be certifiably insane to say you don’t want to go there! Right? Or am I wrong?
