Where did the weekend go?

I’ve blogged about it and I’ve twittered about it. I guess I’ve mentioned enough how I was sick over the weekend. Yeah, I had a cold and my sinuses were all stuffed up, but the worst part was I had a killer headache. The kind of headache that knocks you out and all you can do to feel relief is to lay down and close your eyes. I slept my whole weekend away.

The most that I would do for my cough are cough drops. For the headache, I usually try to work through it by closing my eyes or sleeping it off. If it gets really bad, I will resort to taking pills. Maybe some Tylenol, Advil or Motrin. I don’t do it often though because I’ve found that taking medicines don’t usually work for me anyway. While reading about different headache reliefs, I found that some people use Botox for migraines. That seems a little too radical for me, but I’ve had migraines before and I know how it can make one wish for some radical relief or death. I’m glad I don’t have many migraine attacks.

Play for Real Not Virtually

When I was young, we had toys and we had tv and yeah, we even had arcades. But the most fun we had was playing outside with nothing more than our imaginations to fuel our play time. Our kids now are obsessed with computers and video games. At least when we played with our “video games” we usually had to walk down to the nearest arcade armed with a fist full of quarters, play only until our quarters ran out then walked back home. Our children don’t have to go out of the house anymore and they rarely do. They park in front of the tv or computer and stay there all day.

Spring is coming round again, and I’ve been thinking maybe it’s time to shelve some of our toys and get out for a walk or a run. Maybe the girls can actually go out and experience life in real life rather than just virtually. I keep saying girls but really, I’m guilty too. I find myself obsessing about my blogs and promoting my blogs and monetizing my blogs. I have to quit. Really!

Blogging Makes a Geek Out of You

So maybe you’ve been looking at the news and heard how blogging is “the” new “it”. Everyone who is anyone is doing “it”. You’re wondering if this is for you. How can it be when you still whip out your old Corolla typewriter when you want to send someone a message.

So you get yourself the cheapest, smallest personal computer you can find and off you go! You sign up for internet, get a free blog and you start broadcasting your thoughts to the world. Before you know it, you’re dealing with acronyms that you had no idea of before you got into blogging. Acronyms such as CPU, HTML, CSS, VOIP, PHP, and the letters just keep marching in. You start adding peripherals like printers, scanners, external drives; you start needing things like USB cables, hdmi cables, fiberoptic cables and on and on until you feel cables taking over your life.

The thing is, because of blogging, you probably just rolled with the flow of one new thing after another. Before you know it, someone calls you a geek and your head snaps up out of habit then you realize…. I guess you are a geek!
