Crazy Outings to Adventurous Vacations

Every summer, we used to spend a few weeks with our dad in San Francisco. I think it’s one of the best places to visit, or live if it’s your kind of thing. You just never run out of things to do in San Francisco. Even without a car, my sisters, cousins and I used to run around the city riding the bus, the BART, the cable cars. My cousins were wild, crazy and fun. One night, we snuck out of their house, ‘borrowed’ their family station wagon and went to town. Or ‘the city’ as they call San Francisco. Best and craziest hang out place? Pier 39 at night. Walking around the boardwalk, having clam chowder on the pier, watching the street performers, browsing the shops, playing in the arcade, and generally just hanging out with cousins and friends is one of the most memorable outings we’ve ever had. Memorable and also crazy in the way that only teenager outings can get.

As we got older and started focusing more on our own interests and these family summers grew farther apart and less often. One of the first ventures away from family vacations was a Key West Snorkeling adventure with a boyfriend. That was a big change leap for me, not only in venues but in activity as well. I had never been snorkeling before, but my boyfriend was an avid scuba diver and snorkeler so I was in good company. Great company, in fact. The Keys are awesome not only in the beauty of the ocean but the great number of things to do out of the water. And the food is awesome! This was also the first trip I tasted rock crab claws. Delicious! We found an all you can eat place in Islamorada and pigged out until we could barely walk out of there.
