I’m sure you’ve heard of the nationwide beef recall. Here in North Carolina, 25 school districts are affected, including Wake county, one of the largest in the state. Wake county has to dispose 35,000 pounds of beef!
Districts that have 50 cases or less of beef are allowed to trash the beef themselves by dousing it with chlorine to discourage scavengers from eating it. When you have 35,000 pounds though, you can’t just put it in the dumpster. The district is appealing for government help to dispose of the tainted beef safely and responsibly. I wonder how they will get rid of all that beef! I guess a cookout would be out of the question.
I just hope that some jerk doesn’t decide to make money from this and recycle the beef back on the open market.
