Meizu Review

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

My daughter bought the Meizu MP3 player with her birthday money this year. At first she was looking at an MP3 player that also had a digital camera but her aunt convinced her that perhaps it is not such a good idea to combine functions because then you end up dilluting the capability of each function. My daughter was still set on having all the features in one unit though, until she realized that the player/cam she was considering is an obscure brand without any warranties. So, she started her search anew and came up with this. Here’s her review:

See’s Candies

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketWe used to live just a couple of blocks from this chocolate factory and once in a while, when the ocean breezes are blowing just right, we would get a whiff of cooking chocolate and whatever flavoring it is they are working on that particular time. Our mouths would start watering, our stomachs grumbling and we would inevitable put our walking shoes on and start following the scent. We made it a point to walk down the couple of blocks to the store to get our chocolate fix. It made us feel a little better about our obsession, although deep down the couple of blocks worth of steps probably didn’t make a tiny dent on the amount of calories we ingested.

Growing up in Los Angeles, See’s Candy became part of taste palate. I’ve had my taste of fancy chocolates far and wide but always, we come back to See’s candies. When I go to visit family in California now, their store on La Cienega is a must-stop. See’s candy is a permanent on my husband’s wish list. When in doubt what to get him for Christmas or any other occasion, See’s candy is sure to please. I’m glad to see that they have expanded nationwide, even in our little corner. Starting a couple of years ago, they started having a cart at one of the malls. They sell pre-packed boxes, so I don’t get to fill up on a couple of pounds of our favorites, but all of their flavors are good so we’re happy to get a variety anyway. I just heard today that they will be at the mall starting this weekend, after Thanksgiving. You know where I’ll be ;)

Bad Employees Don’t Get Fired, They Get Promoted!

I’ve been known to rant about the workplace from time to time; and maybe I didn’t blog about it, but my favorite thing or person to rant about, in person or in emails, is our receptionist who was just promoted, if you can call it that.

Let’s start with the basics. You would think, that since a receptionist is the first impression a visitor gets of your company, that you would like to have a good first impression sitting at the front desk. But us? Nooooooh! First off, and I won’t rant that this person is not good looking enough, that wouldn’t be proper to hire anyone based on their looks, I’ll be the first to tell you that; BUT if you are going to be working with the public, at least dress professionally. Anyone can dress professionally even on a budget, so the level of her salary is no excuse. The retired old lady working in the mail room dressed more apropos that our receptionist. For a receptionist, who is the first line on the phone hierarchy, you would think they would have hired someone with a pleasant voice and attitude. But noooooooooh! This girl was surly with the most downbeat voice I ever heard. Several clients who have called in actually complained about the ‘operator’. We all wondered why she hasn’t been fired yet.

Not even get me started on her ability to work with others, cause that part is just non existent as far as she is concerned.

So why wasn’t she fired and has been, instead, promoted to being a floater so she can go to every department in the building making everyone else’s lives miserable? I have no clue, but maybe some of the listed items in this article I found online today may shed some light as to why she hasn’t been fired yet. The article, Why Bad Employees Don’t Get Fired, suggests that maybe that employee has something over the boss’s hear and he can’t fire her. Now if that’s the case, I would like to know what it is. Maybe if we’re in on the dirt we can start acting like asses too and get away with it.

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer

I am glad I came into the Twilight series rather late. When I read Twilight, all the books in the trilogy were already out. Good thing, because if I had have to wait until the release of the next book like I’ve had to do with Harry Potter, I would have been in agony. Agony that is so gut wrenching and debilitating as that of which Bella suffers through on this second book, New Moon.

The first book, Twilight, you feel the exhiliration of butterflies in your tummy as Bella and Edward fall in love. You forget that Edward is a vampire, you just remember what it is like to discover love. That mingling of excitement, fear and joy that churns the pit of your stomach to the point that you don’t know whether you will need to sit from weakness or jump with giddiness.

Bloggerwave

I signed up for bloggerwave sometime ago, but before I could really get a feel for the site, they got hacked and all their user’s passwords were compromised. So I stopped for a while and concentrated on other paid blogging opportunities. I hear Bloggerwave is the up and coming advertising media in Europe, so I’m signing up early and see how things go.
