Entry:Haikus
So, you wanna learn how to write Haiku’s huh? Well straiten up soldier this is about to be an experience you’ll never forget!
Just kidding. Actually it’s pretty easy. Haiku’s are a really fun way(to some) to write poetry. Haiku’s are originally from Japan. You might learn about Haiku’s and their history in school or something. That’s where I learned about it. So if your interested in writing poetry (or have to find some info) read more.
Haiku’s are simple- but be warned, they can be prrretty tricky. So here’s the basics:
#1: Three lined poem.
#2: Doesn’t have to rhyme.
Seems pretty simple huh? Sorry to break your heart but- there’s a catch. And here it is, just keep reading.
#3: The First line/stanza must contain only 5 sylabbles.
#4: The Second line/stanza must contain only 7 sylabbles.
and last but not least,
#5: The third and last line must only have 5 sylabbles.
Well I think that about covers it. If I left anything out go to a book or other reference area. I don’t know how you can tell, if you’re new to this whole thing and all but it should be pretty good. Oh yeah! Traditional Haiku’s are mostly about nature and sentimental things like that. But HEY, who’s stopping you?! Well happy writings. And as I leave you I only say this last saying:
The Pen is mightier than the sword.
Go ahead and contemplate this. I don’t know what it’s supposed to help you with in writing, but whatever. Gotta go.
